Biography
Born in Bristol and a Breton at heart, 36-year-old Sam Goodchild has sailed with flair on a wide variety of boats and knows offshore racing better than most of his contemporaries. Class40, Figaro Bénéteau, Ultim, Ocean Fifty, IMOCA: he excels both in crewed races and solo. In 2024 he took part in his first Vendée Globe and finished 9th on an older-generation boat. Charlie Dalin then chose him to succeed him at the helm of the IMOCA MACIF Santé Prévoyance until the end of 2026.
