Biography

Mathieu Claveau, an engineer by training based in Marseille, owes his discovery of offshore racing to the Route du Rhum, the race he dreamed about as a child and whose boats he rebuilt out of Lego. He has twice won the Vintage category, on the 2019 Transat Jacques Vabre and the 2022 Route du Rhum. In 2026 he stepped up another level by winning the CIC Med Channel Race and the Paprec 600 in Saint-Tropez. For his second Route du Rhum, he is aiming for the best result he can achieve, while sharing with his audience the technical side, the weather conditions and daily life on board.
