The Route du Rhum is my race of the heart, the one that makes me dream! With the Gitana Team, we are here to defend our title in this legendary transatlantic race.
Biography
In 2022, Charles Caudrelier won an almost perfect Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe aboard Gitana 17, setting the reference time of 6 days 19 hours 47 minutes and 25 seconds. He is now putting his title back on the line. Four years earlier, the Gitana skipper, although a rookie in the race and in solo trimaran sailing, was already the favourite, at the helm of the best-performing flying multihull of its generation. Today, at 52, the man to beat arrives on Gitana 18, the new Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, a highly innovative multihull launched less than eight months before the start.
