Biography

In 2020 Boris Herrmann became the first German to enter the Vendée Globe. After The Ocean Race 22/23, sailed with Team Malizia, he took part in the Vendée Globe 24/25, completing his sixth circumnavigation. The team's new IMOCA, due to be launched on 6 July 2026, is aimed at The Ocean Race Atlantic and the Route du Rhum in 2026, then The Ocean Race 2027 and the Vendée Globe 28/29.

Team Malizia combines education, science and ocean racing through the mission A Race We Must Win–Climate Action Now! The team collects data on the Ocean, and the number of students reached through its My Ocean Challenge programme exceeds 118,000.
