"It's a race that means a great deal to me, the most beautiful of the transatlantic races. It helped forge my vocation and made me live highs and lows. I have only one goal: to do everything I can to win it."

Biography

For Armel Le Cléac'h, the Route du Rhum holds a special place. As a child, he walked the pontoons with his parents and followed the race avidly on the radio and in the newspapers. A seasoned sailor and winner of prestigious races (Solitaire du Figaro, Vendée Globe, Transat Jacques Vabre), he has reached the podium there (2nd in 2010) but also suffered a few disappointments. The Breton has nevertheless never given up the idea of winning it. In this quest he relies on his boat, the Maxi Banque Populaire XI, patiently made reliable and optimised since its launch in 2021.
